Returns
1. Please read the item descriptions very carefully. I write them to try to give you the best possible idea of what it is you are purchasing. If you have questions, please write to us. Unless the product that we send you differs than what is described, we will not accept a return.
2. Items must be unmarked (no writing on cards, no damages to products which include cuts, trimming, and no hand writing the titles onto cards etc) The product will not be accepted otherwise. In other words, please ship items to us undamaged and without your creative input ;).
3. All items must be returned to us with a note explaining your return or alternatively write to j_battersby@hotmail.com with a reason for your return.
4. We must be contacted within 7 days of receiving your item to be viable for a return. For overseas customers all items must be posted within 7 days of receipt. We will allow additional time for transit. A tracking number is also required.
5. Make sure your postal address is correct. If we have to resend because you omit your building number or zip code or are not there to sign for a delivery there will be additional shipping costs to resend the package. If you decide you want a refund instead, it is within our right to charge a restocking fee and deduct shipping cost.
If a parcel has to be resent because you did not respond to a postal notice there will be a fee. If you decide not to have the package resent we will deduct the original postage cost from your refund. Please respond to postal notices it's in everyone's best interest.
6. Damaged cards/boxes. - While it’s rare, sometimes boxes and even a few cards can be slightly damaged in transit. As of May 2019, every deck leaving our studio is bubble wrapped before being put into a bubble wrap envelope. In other words the deck is more or less bubble wrapped twice. When appropriate, smaller collector's sets of, say, 10 cards, are secured with card board inside a bubble wrap envelope. (Please see Question 8 of our FAQ below for more info)
It is assumed that when you purchase from us, you expect the possibility that some wear or tear may appear on your package via the postal service. Depending on where you live, your package might have a journey of thousands of miles, visiting more than a few sorting offices. For example, the package leaves our local post office and takes a journey to Belfast, then on to England, and possibly a few other plane rides before arriving at your door. (Not to mention all the travel by land).
We cannot replace cards that have small dents and minor scrapes. We have a very limited supply of decks in our studio, and we are not card manufacturers ourselves. So as of May 26th 2019, we will only consider replacing cards that are damaged beyond reasonable use, i.e. ripped, disfigured etc. In extreme cases, where cards are not usable, we will honour a replacement. In that case we will examine the situation on a case by case basis. However, they have to have more than a fingernail mark or a dogged eared card for us to even consider a replacement. Secondly, shipping out a single card replacement on a two thousand mile journey is more likely to end up with that card being bent up during transit too.
If a card deck is completely unsatisfactory it can be returned to us for a refund or exchange , without damage and with tracking information to : James Battersby, 6 Hazeldene Drive, Bushmills, BT57 8RA, UK
Unfortunately ,overseas shipping is high. We know, we have to pay it too . A return is required for a refund. If a product is returned beyond the 7 days period and exceeds a month , there will be a restocking fee of 50 percent .Tracking is required.
All returned items must be in original packing, unused and complete.
As for damaged boxes, we cannot replace boxes because the boxes come to us already glued from the printer. In other words they cannot be flattened, shipped and then reassembled.
7. ALL RETURNS MEETING THESE CRITERIA MUST BE SENT TO OUR STUDIO IN THE U.K.. WE ARE BASED IN BUSHMILLS, N.IRELAND
I WILL NOT ACCEPT REPLACEMENT CARD REQUESTS FOR ITEMS DAMAGED BY CARD CUTTING MISTAKES, CARDS DINGED BY IMPATIENT REMOVAL FROM BOX OR RIPPLE DAMAGE CAUSED BY AGGRESSIVE CARD SHUFFLING. CARDS FOR TAROT USE ARE AT THE END OF THE DAY PAPER NOT PLASTIC LIKE THE TYPES USED IN CASINOS WHICH DON'T LAST A DAY DUE TO AGGRESSIVE SHUFFLING, BRIDGING and ETC. Use our products responsibly. These are not plastic coated poker cards. They are 350 gsm art paper. Even Poker cards don't last with constant riffle shuffle and bridging.
Remember to be eligible for return cards must be returned in the shape they left our studio. We do not bridge cards before they leave our stock. Therefore we will not accept returns with bridge bends.
CANCELLATIONS
1. Print on demand items cannot be cancelled once the order goes to the printer. I tend to place the order with the printer when I receive them . It takes time for these items to reach the buyer. Therefore I dont wait ages to place the order with them. So in short, no they cannot really be cancelled.
2. During Covid most orders are being dispatched the same day so no cancellation is possible. Please read everything carefully. Be sure you double check your order for errors.
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
We receive a lot of emails each day, on a wide range of themes; from praise for our card stock and art, to wondering why a purchase hasn't arrived yet. To make sure your question is answered in a timely manner, we invite you to read our FAQ first. If your question is not answered here, please don't hesitate to contact us @j_battersby@hotmail.com
1. What currency are your products priced in?
ALL prices are in U.S Dollars . While our customers come from all over the world, most of our sales come from the United States. Weebly, which our site is based on, only allows for one currency display, so it makes sense to use the currency that most of our customers are familiar with. That being said, our customers from outside the United States have always been happy with their purchasing experience.
2. When will my order arrive?
All items may take up 3 weeks to be shipped depending on availability.
Items in our studio ship within 1 to 2 days but delivery time varies depending on location and customs.
With the exception of bags and special collectors edition cards, which we order beforehand, everything in our store is printed to order giving our products a higher level of collectibility when design changes occur, or when we offer limited edition decks.
Print to order products can take between 2-6 weeks for delivery.
We've found that occasionally some books and decks may take longer when shipped to areas outside of U.S, for example Cyprus, Israel, Australia. Thank you for your understanding. Currently we must add Canada to the list too, as Canada has been hit by a lot of postal strikes (as of Dec 2018- Jan 2019, when I am writing this)
All of our bags ship from Ireland, including some of our special collectors edition cards, so there's a possibility that these might arrive sooner than three weeks, but please give the products 3 weeks to arrive.
3. What countries can you ship to?
So far we've only had trouble shipping to Russia and Ukraine, however if you are ordering kickstarter/indiegogo related decks, tarot bags or special collectors edition cards (all of which ship from Ireland) these will not be a problem to ship to you.
Print on demand decks and books which are sent directly from our printer to your address, for example The Twisted Tarot Tales deck, King's Journey etc, (decks which are not currently available in our studio) cannot be shipped to Ukraine and Russia. (and possibly other countries, but so far these are the two which we are aware of)
If in doubt, please ask us by writing to j_battersby@hotmail.com, or you can order and we will deliver if it is at all possible. In the unfortunate event that we can't deliver, you will be refunded.
4. I Forgot to add my apartment number/ post code/ zip code. Will my package still get here?
This is probably the most important question in this FAQ. The truth is....I hope so. I hope the package will get to you, but it's impossible to say, which is why it's of utmost importance that you give us your exact postal address. Most of the time it will, but if it doesn't, we cannot be held responsible as we can only work with what we're given.
In the case of ordering P.O.D decks, our printers are often located in China. Please be kind to our printers, who may not be familiar with your country's written language. Write down your exact address.
5. My Deck Came In Cellophane Wrap. Where is the Box?
To keep costs down, all decks are printed without box and booklet, and will arrive from the printer in cellophane wrap unless otherwise noted. More recently we have opted for a plain white box when it is available from our printer. Instead of a book. we've opted for a free full color PDF which you can download or simply refer back to on our site.
For those who would prefer a full color tuck-box, most of our decks now have that option. This is priced at 10 U.S dollars as this is how much a custom box costs directly from the printer (it's actually 12 dollars, but we've rounded it off to 10 for our customers).
6. Why Are Other People Getting Their Decks Before Me When We Ordered At The Same Time?
There may be multiple reasons for this. Occasionally there will be slight delays in getting your package at the same time as your friend due to a difference in location (Assuming of course that they are "internet friends"/international friends), which is understandable. If a deck of cards is shipped from our studio to, let's say, Spain, and another shipped to California, you would expect the Spanish customer to receive the deck first. Generally this will be the case.
Yet, this is sometimes not what happens and so usually comes down to a particular country's customs procedure.
For example, in our experience Canadian customs have held a package for up to two weeks or more, despite the package having a customs declaration form attached. We've had similar experiences with Australian customs. That being said, we've never had a package returned back to us, and after customs inspection the package has always reached its destination.
While it's exciting to know that there's an awesome parcel on it's way to you, we sometimes forget that customs inspectors have an important job to do. Whether it's sending something illegal, or thwarting some crazy who wants to send hoax bombs to political targets, customs needs to make sure that your package is in good standing.
7. Why Can I Order A Deck From Amazon And it Takes a Few Days To Get Here, But Your Decks Sometimes Takes Weeks To Arrive?
While I am not an expert on this, one major difference is that Amazon has fulfillment centers all over the world (there are over 70 fulfillment centers in North America alone) which means if you order a deck of cards from Amazon and you're in New York, one of the fulfillment centers in New York will process your order and you'll have your deck in no time. Let's pick a random state, let's say Missouri. If you order something from Amazon, you'll probably get a package coming out of fulfillment centers STL7 or STL4 in St Louis, though I've heard there's one being built in St Peters which would eventually give a third option. If you ordered something from Cincinnati, your package might come from Lexington Kentucky's fulfillment center, or it would be coming out of Indianapolis. In other words, if an American state does not have it's own fulfillment center, it's satellite states probably do, which means that your package is sometimes literally only a few hundred miles away and will easily arrive in days.
By comparison, Ireland is about two thousand miles away from the East Coast of the U.S, and being outside of the U.S is declared an international package, which means it must be given over to customs first, before you get the parcel. To my knowledge, a customs form will not be required for trade between varying states, and so shipping is that much faster within the U.S
Unfortunately I am a self employed artist all the way over here in Ireland, and while I am able to make enough to live on, I would never be able to compete with Amazon and it's global reach. Our hope is that what we lack in ability to bring you your deck as quickly as Amazon can deliver it to your door, we more than make up for in our dedication to bringing you an awesome well put together, well thought out (conceptually), well illustrated deck that is not mass produced into oblivion. (In other words a very beautiful deck that may go on to become a highly collectible piece of art that retains it's value over time)
8. Do you send your packages in plain envelopes or are they secured with bubble wrap?
When we send decks from our studio in Ireland we take the upmost care in putting your package together to avoid, as much as possible, any problems arising during transit. This involves bubble wrapping each deck before it leaves the studio.
Here's our process. Firstly, we open up each deck and examine each card. If all the cards look up to standard, we carefully place the cards back in the box. While this takes some time out of our week, we feel it’s important that the product is in tip top shape before it leaves our studio. We then bubble wrap the deck, and place a quality check label on it, signed and dated. The bubble wrapped deck is then placed in a bubble wrap envelope. Yes, the packaging probably seems a bit like overkill, but we recognize that some decks do travel quite a distance.
9. I didn't receive confirmation of my order. Please check your junk mail before contacting us.
